Workshops

More than traditional classes, these are inspiring sessions to create while relaxing in a very casual, peaceful, and beautiful environment. These experiences will offer you a change in your routine, the possibility to interact with others mind-like, and new ways to explore or improve your skills. Diana Farfan Studios is surrounded by the gorgeous natural scenery of Paris Mountain in Greenville, South Carolina.

“Play ‘n’ Clay”

In this class, all level participants will challenge themselves on making individual toys through the use of personal memories, icons, favorite toys and images as models. By combining parts of our all-time favorite toys with humanistic or animalistic traits, these creations will allow participants to explore about their childhoods as well as to learn techniques to hand-built clay figures. Have fun creating in a casual and inspiring environment. Class fee includes clay, all firing and studio glazes.

“FUNKY ‘N’ MEANINGFUL”

Meaning, intention, and technical skills are the most important components for me when creating work. Whether or not you have previous experience with clay, this class will offer you different techniques to create a wide range of one-of-a-kind items, from lighthearted objects to significant sculptures. We will focus on slab construction, expressive figures, or build functional work. We will also apply other hand-building methods to assemble and decorate your shapes. Let’s create unique dishes, table sets, or figures that contain relevance to you. Have fun creating in a casual and inspiring environment. Class fee includes clay, all firing, and studio glazes.

“PERFECTLY IMPERFECT FIGURE”

This class is for intermediate and advanced levels. We will hand-built the figure using anatomical references while playing with the body’s proportions to accentuate meaning. Image reference and sketch development, modeling of the anatomy of hands and feet, using an armature, reproducing faces out of a mold to practice facial gestures and more, will be included in these sessions. This workshop also covers surface treatments with underglazes and glazes. I will be available to answer questions, suggest alternative methods, and demonstrate specific requests. Expect to have some fun and learn a few new tricks to move your figure modeling forward. Relax in a casual and inspiring environment. Class fee includes clay, all firing, and any studio glazes.
